These are fun at a picnic. They can be made ahead of time and stored in a tin for a few days–if they last that long. So get your ingredients together, and find out how delicious this simple and easy bar cookie can be to make.
24 saltine crackers
2 cups butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 large (at least 12 oz.) chocolate candy bar
Preheat the oven to 375.
Line a baking sheet with tin foil. Then line up the crackers so they are touching each other.
In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly until it comes to a boil.
Pour this butter and brown sugar mixture over the crackers.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. While it is baking, break the chocolate bar into small pieces.
Remove the crackers from the oven. Scatter the chocolate pieces over the crackers and return to the oven.
As the chocolate melts, remove from the oven and spread it over the crackers like frosting.
Let the crackers/chocolate cool on the baking sheet. When it has cooled, remove it and break them into small pieces. Store in a covered container.
